2012 MINI New Models at Col Crawford MINI Sydney Garage - Mini Dealership Sydney

MINI: The Next Generation

Sydney's premeire new and used MINI dealer, Col Crawford has the right model Countryman, Coupe and Roadster for you. Immerse yourself in all things MINI!

"Our customers don’t want boring cars, they want excitement."

MINI Head Designer Adrian Van Hooydonk

Describe a MINI to me. If your definition only included 2 doors & a standard MINI shape, you should read on. The MINI family is growing up fast and adding to its brood which will soon rival Brangelina's! Now there's a MINI for everyone.

MINI Countryman

The first new MINI model that will arrive on the MINI Sydney scene is the MINI Countryman. The MINI Countryman will be the first ever MINI to have four doors, but will still have the same MINI go-kart fun. >>Click here for a look at the MINI Countryman at Col Crawford MINI Garage.

MINI Coupe and MINI Roadster

The next MINI’s are the much anticipated MINI Coupe and MINI Roadster. As concepts, they were unveiled last year at the Frankfurt Motor Show. To give you a taste of the MINI Coupe & MINI Roadster, here is the teaser ad that went with the reveal. It’s a bit out there, but hang in there as it explains well what MINI Coupe & MINI Roadster are about. Please note this clip is best viewed by big kids only. (P.S. We don’t get the cows either.)

The bad (but so good) twin, the MINI Coupe, is a true racing car, powered by the awesome John Cooper Works engine. It has an automatic drop-top and will put MINI into a whole new hemisphere of cool. It is rumoured that we will see the MINI Coupe be available in Australia by August 2011. You can register your interest here for updates on the MINI Coupe.

The stunning MINI Roadster is the BMW Z4 Coupe of the MINI line-up. It’s a sporty success, looking likely to utilise the Cooper S engine and have a manual retracted roof to save on weight (so you go faster), that sits flush with the back of the car.

It is unfortunately a bit further away, looking likely to be around 2012, but as you can see from the images above, you might want to add it your wish list now.

MINI E Electric Car

MINI E Electric, Sydney Col Crawford (image)MINI is at the forefront of the electric car revolution with the MINI E (electric) well into a trial phase. A staggering 4,500 people requested to be on the North American trials for the 400 MINI E’s available.

The lucky recipients leased a MINI E and reported back on their experiences. As all of them have now renewed their leases we would have to presume that they love the MINI E! Further trials are now being conducted in France, UK, Germany and China.

We are hoping to be able to show you a MINI E (for showing off, not for buying) in Australia next year.

MINI Electric Scooter

Continuing from the MINI E tree is the concept MINI Electric Scooter. Perfectly designed for city life, with an uber cool design, the scooter simply plugs into a power point to charge, and utilises MINI design elements such as the Countryman centre rail. Again, this is still in concept stage, with no firm date to arrive in Australia – but it will be getting a lot more press soon, so we will keep you updated.

2011 MINI Countryman

The Countryman may be the start of something bigger for MINI (yes yes very bad pun) with MINI now dreaming even bigger. The MINI Countryman “Plus” has been hinted about by the global head of the MINI brand, Dr Wolfgang Armbrecht, as he revealed that the Countryman could definitely be made bigger, stretching the Countryman’s wheelbase from 8.5 feet to 8.9 feet. So why this may seem a departure for from being “MINI” Van Hooydonk summed it up well "People are downsizing to smaller cars, and which brand is better positioned to take advantage of this than MINI?"

There is also a strong rumor swirling around that MINI is considering taking its Beachcomber from concept and into production. Word on the street is there are two production intent versions no in development. The Moke, that will be close to the concept, and the Canyon Coupe, which will be a shorter 2-door hatchback. We are putting forward Australia as the perfect test market for the new MINI Moke!

Some overseas websites are also reporting that MINI is working on and considering another MINI Beachcomber model that will be based on the Countryman platform. The “Countryman Coupe” would feature a stylish, steeply sloping roofline designed to compete against the Range Rover Evoque, but carry a dramatically lower price. If we hear anything concrete we will let you know.

“Mini” Micro Scooter

And for those MINI fans in your family not old enough to drive the “mini” micro scooter might just do the trick! The Butterfly micro scooter was developed in cooperation with MINI (although it was produced without either financial or technical support) – and has recently been presented to the company at its Munich headquarters, where it was received well. It recently become a finalist in the prestigious James Dyson Awards in 2010, and hopefully will be one that makes it to Col Crawford MINI Garage soon.

MINI, Past and Future
