Issuing a press release for publication on www.ourmanly.com.au enables you to leverage the wide visibility Our Manly offers. Reaching tens of thousands of Northern Beaches and Sydney locals each month with search engine optimised and actively linked newsworthy content will benefit your organisation, product or event and we encourage submissions from a wide variety of sources.

Unfortunately, due to the large number of press releases received, Our Manly cannot guarantee to run any particular item, but a few simple procedures can increase your chances of getting coverage.

Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting a press release. Submit your press releases to editor@ourmanly.com.au

What Is A Press Release?

In general, a good press release is a concise, complete description of an upcoming news event; a timely report of an event that has just occurred; notification of important personnel or procedural changes in an organization; product information or other news or feature tips.

Our Manly Press Release Guidelines at-a-glance

Our Manly will approve/deny all press releases based on its own criteria. All press releases using images, trademarks, and copyrighted material must comply with Australian laws governing the use of such content. It is the responsibility of the party submitting the press release to adhere to the legal use of materials contained within the press release. Advance approval from Our Manly is required if the name “Our Manly” is mentioned in the press release.

Releases should fit within the average computer screen. The best press releases are self-contained “digital flyers”. Highly formatted text within the body of an email is more difficult for Our Manly to publish. Excel file attachments are discouraged.

  • Write clearly, addressing who, what, where, why and when in the first two paragraphs. Identify the organization or individual sending the release and include the name and daytime phone number (with area code) of someone we can contact if we have questions.
  • Date the release and include whether the material is for immediate use or for release at a later date. Indicate which section of Our Manly (i.e. Business, Lifestyle, Sports) is the most appropriate.

Our Manly's Press Release Approval Process

All press releases to Our Manly must be submitted for review to the Our Manly Editor at least 8 weeks before any date specific event. (This is to enable us to ensure maximal SEO (Search engine Optimization) outcomes and consider potential relevant e-news communications of your date-specific event to our databases of site subscibers and business owners in a timely fashion).

We regret that we cannot guarantee approval/turnaround with less than 8 weeks notice from your organisation.

Common Press Release Mistakes

  • Providing insufficient and inaccurate information.
  • To be useful, releases must be complete, correct and specific.
  • Omission of the name and phone number of someone editors can contact with questions.
  • Writing releases that are too long.
  • Submitting a release too late.
