'Flip Flop Art Fence' Public Artwork on Whistler St., Manly

Give your old flip flops (or thongs) a second life and artistically decorate & RECYCLE your old pair of flip flops and be part of the public artwork 'Flip Flop Art Fence' on Whistler Street in Manly.

You can use any materials to embellish your flip-flops artistically - but make it weather proof! For example, if using acrylics paint - put a coat of varnish on top.

You also can write a poem, a songline, a message, stick on a photo, knit or sew and create any memoir you like on the thong.

The idea is for all people of all ages and from all backgrounds to be part of Public Artwork. Also, people visiting Manly will to be able to stick their flip flops on the fence and write a message (non offensive please...) on it. Or people can pick up lost Flip Flops from the beach and stick them on the Flip Flop Art Fence.

Flip Flops - Environmental Nuisance

It’s important to be aware that Flip Flops are actually being constructed from polyurethane, which is yet another plastic derived from crude oil. This means they are going to be hanging around the environment for a very, very long time once discarded.

I like to invite anyone with Flip Flops to create something unique and be a co-creator in this public Art fence.

Only when the Fence is officially launched can people add their Flip Flops themselves. Before that your Flip Flop artwork must be sent/delivered to Manly Artist Angela van Boxtel.

Flip Flops art will be attached to the fence in different sequences.
