Surf 'n Turf Benefit a Success
Hundreds of supporters rocked out November 11 at Surf n’ Turf, a benefit performance for well loved music scene stalwart Wayne Goodwin.
The rallying cry was heard at the Mona Vale Hotel as talented friends and supporters came together for a unique evening of inspiring music and camraderie in a heartfelt showing for Wayne, an accomplished composer and multi-instrumentalist.
The night featured a range of musical acts rarely found in the same place on the same night. Friends and well wishers danced to the cool tunes of Wayne's band mates, Ebb Tide & The Shorebreakers (including members from Midnight Oil - Jim Moginie, Rob Hirst & Martin Rotsey in their alter ego surf band), members of The Atlantics (Peter Hood, Martin Cilia and Michael Smith), and a host of other guest bands and musicians. A silent auction saw the sale of a 1971 Fender P-Bass and a Fender acoustic guitar, both donated by Wayne's stellar mates. Also, t-shits and CD's were donated by area record companies.
All services for the evening were donated.
While Wayne was a little under the weather, he managed to arrive for a short time- carried in by his friends, no less!

Wayne was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in June of this year but after three months of chemotherapy is currently in remission. With a little help from his friends, this fund raising event will provide some relief for Wayne's mounting financial obligations, and a portion of the proceeds went towards
The Leukaemia Foundation.
Jim Moginie and his manager Arlene Brookes organized the event with invaluable help with publicity from
