Simon Forman's PERFECT PITCH
Music on the Northern Beaches
Enter The Houses Of The Holy And Pay Homage
2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the year four aspiring musicians changed the name of their band from ‘The New Yardbirds’ to ‘Led Zeppelin’… then changed the face of rock and roll forever. In celebration of the incredible longevity of the band’s music, CC Entertainment (CCE) is bringing its hugely popular Led Zeppelin ‘Whole Lotta Love’ show to Dee Why RSL on Saturday August 30.
Any music fans lucky enough to have witnessed a CCE show before will recognise that this is an evening of rock ‘n’ roll not to be missed. Where previous performances have seen legendary acts such as Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones celebrated, this is the first chance Northern Beaches residents will have to hear these foot stomping renditions of Led Zeppelin classics.
Anticipation is already running high after exceptional sell out shows at the legendary Basement for the past five years. With tickets for this latest run already being snapped up all indicators suggest this is set to be one of those “I was there!” events. Both the Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones shows saw the ‘Sold Out’ sign hung over the door and ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is set to continue the trend.
Showered with accolades as extravagant as ‘the world’s first heavy metal band’, ‘the biggest band in the world’ and ultimately ‘the greatest rock band ever’, Led Zeppelin achieved everything a rock and roll band could ever hope for…and much more.
Music fans will remember the incredible popularity of Led Zeppelin’s London reunion show late last year. With only 20,000 seats available, tickets offices received an unprecedented 20 million requests from fans desperate to experience Led Zeppelin live.
The CCE Zeppelin show looks like being as close as Australian rock fans are likely to get to experiencing ‘the Mothership’ and the promoters have once again pulled out all stops for the show.
As ever CCE has pooled together the pinnacle of Australia’s talent, both vocal and instrumental, to create on-stage performances that capture and reinterpret the original magic of the artists they are celebrating.
Fans of Led Zeppelin can expect spectacular renditions of classics such as Kashmir, Black Dog, Battle of Evermore, Heartbreaker, Immigrant Song and Rock'n'Roll.
A range of stunning lead vocalists including Steve Balbi (Noiseworks/Move Trees), Zkye, Danny Marx-Young, Simon Meli (Ooh La La), Lex Koritni (Koritni) and 2007 Music Oz winner Amanda Baker will bring to life the unmistakeable vocal prowess of Robert Plant.
Guitar maestros Peter Northcote, who recently supported Joe Satriani at The Enmore, and Joseph Calderazzo (CCE’s Musical Director), will deliver the screaming and melodic familiar riffs of Jimmy Page, Dario Bortolin (Jimmy Barnes Band) will provide the backbone groove of John Paul Jones on bass, whilst the spirit of John Bonham will be channelled on drums by Gordon Rytmeister. Add to this an accompanying string section of classical virtuosos including Adrian Keating (Aust. Opera – violin) Claire Brassil (Aust. Opera - cello) and Kristy Conrau (Syd. Symphony - cello) and you can see why Whole Lotta Love is guaranteed to deliver Rock ’n Roll both at its most pure and most sophisticated.
Giveaways on the night will be courtesy of Warner Music, Allans Music and ICON Home Entertainment
