This season we have been inspired by the nature of poetry, the beauty of words and their hidden and interpretative meaning.
Poetry conveys interpretations where words may mean different things to each of us.
We love the way words can be presented in opposing and beautiful combinations; formal and informal; hard and soft; feminine and masculine; rhythmic and arrhythmic…creating combinations that challenge the way words bring images to life and transform moments.
In this collection we have worked with fabrics and textures in a 3D effect... designed to move and float while walking. Dresses ripple like the flipping pages of a book, while letters tumble down in a cascade of text.
The ambiguity and personal interpretation of poems is also expressed through subtle phrases burnt into fabric... through typewriter fonts printed and pleated onto sheer fabrics.
Cotton lace is created in acid yellow with poetry embroidered down backs of arms and shoulders.
A library of luxe fabrics include wool silk georgette, polished cotton suiting and wool tencel knits with silicon alphabet lettering.
Classic Ginger & Smart Styles
Silhouettes combine the classic Ginger & Smart signature of masculine and feminine elements with a new emphasis on the juxtaposition of a sharp collar and floating lengths.
Prints give a nod to an emerging digital landscape, while colours materialise in dynamic visual marriages of hightech tones anchored by deeply emotive shades, such as Rust with Hot Pink, Acid Yellow with Midnight Navy and fleeting shades of Grey.
Finely edited accessories work to emphasise a scholarly atmosphere and include oversized cotton-coated canvas clutches, man-style elastic braces, silk and leather collars, rifle-derby shoes and watches.
Make-up from Natasha Severino for shu uemura
A delicate and defined make-up direction from Natasha Severino for shu uemura consumates the look.
"We wanted a modern and clean approach to beauty for this show, with a masculine hardened edge, yet all the while remaining very polished and with an element of sophistication", said Severino.
"Skin is luminous, and the pop of graphic colour used on the eye compliments the emotion of the collection".
