aroma ki Day Spa has been a permanent fixture in Collaroy for quite some time. Located in the heritage Westpac Bank building on the corner of Collaroy Street and Pittwater Road, this magnificent red brick building with sandstone features adds to the prestige of having a spa treatment just a hop, skip and jump from the water’s edge.
It is also home to Sydney’s one and only Rasul treatment room. Rasul is a Middle Eastern steam and mud ritual treatment aimed at cleansing the skin and the removal of impurities.
However, I have come to aroma ki this time to experience their newest service – the salon spa treatment in the aptly referred “loft” section of the building. This concept, being very different to a regular salon style cut or foils, explores the sensuous nature of being at a day spa combined with the ultimate hair styling experience.
A Relaxing, Indulgent Salon Experience
The moment you walk into the reception area, one is instantly relaxed by the spiritual ambience owner Maryanne Ullman has meticulously created.
Tropical floral arrangements, scented oils and soothing candles and herbal tea all add to the anticipation leading to what I can only describe as true indulgence.
More Than a Haircut!
Each hair treatment begins with what stylist Sarah refers to as “the ritual”. This includes the use of your choice of essence and a neck shoulder and head massage. This is not a rushed experience and Sarah aims to ensure that your experience is as fulfilling and relaxing as all the other services offered by aroma ki.
As I was having a deluxe spa treatment ($35) and style cut and blow dry ($95), the first step was to assess my hair type and condition. This allowed Sarah to choose the most effective products to give me the best treatment for my hair.
“La Biosthetique” Hair Products Available to Sydney and the Northern Beaches
aroma ki uses French “La Biosthetique” products which have a strong emphasis on scalp care in order to maintain healthy hair.
This is a relatively new line of stylist products for aroma ki but after a scalp treatment with massage, double shampoo and conditioner application, my silky soft hair was ready for a styling session.
Sarah was very thorough and knowledgeable about the most suitable styles based on my hair type, facial shape and of course, personal preference.
With over 15 years experience in the industry, Sarah showed a practical yet creative approach to styling my hair and was more than happy to share hints and tips to maintain my stunning new look.
The experience took 2 hours and I had intimate attention from my stylist throughout. I can’t emphasize enough that this is an experience and not a cut and run service.
