When Manly local Harriette Hickey started university, she envisaged something different to what turned out, “Sometimes there were over 400 people in my class, I felt like I was just one of many students competing to learn,” she said, “It seemed pretty impersonal and I doubt whether any of the lecturers knew my name.” ICMS in Manly proved different.
With class sizes at many universities commonly taking hundreds of students, Harriette weighed up her options and decided to look at a local offering, the International College of Management, Sydney which is based in Manly.
“I didn’t realise until looking into it, that the College was right here in my own backyard. They are offering the exact degree I want to do too Bachelor of Business (Events) – at the university I was at I couldn’t choose my major until third year, so being able to start working on my events skills now is great. I'm also pleased the College has paid industry training, which is definitely something that is important - I want to make sure I find a job after I finish my studies.”
