Tucked into the corner of Pittwater Rd in Collaroy, opposite the Surf Rock, the expansive Aroma Ki Day Spa is far removed from the hustle and bustle of the world outside. One step into this elegantly sensual spa is a thousand miles from concern.
Our Manly was escorted through Aroma Ki's Rasul Experience by Mary who specialises in the mudbath treatment.
Slipping into a pair of sparkling clean slides we followed her through the winding corridors to the changing room. Once in a fresh fluffy clean robe we were asked to shed our clothes and given a disposable g-string. Meeting Mary in the lush relaxation area we headed to the Rasul room, where we were given a description of what's to come.
The Rasul is the preeminent steam experience. Immersed in steam infused with special herbs and essential oils, the body is detoxified and purified. Aroma Ki owner, Maryanne Ullman, brought this unique treatment to Australia after identifying it as a rare Asian speciality.
Stripped down to g-string, Mary applies to the face and body medicinal herbs and hygenic mud, helping to draw out skin impurities. As steam begins to fill the room Mary departs and the serene quiet and tingling herbs do an exotic Arabic magic.
Even if you consider yourself someone who needs a great deal of stimulation, find yourself easily bored and feel a little hesitant about 45 minutes of steamy meditation, don't worry. As your muscles relax amid waves of warming steam, your mind will calm and a blissful peace descent. Cares evaporate amid swirls of fragrant foreign aromas.
The Rasul Experience culminates with a gentle shower to wash away the mud. Emerging as if from a cocoon, the mind calm, the body relaxed, glowing and at peace, the day beckons with renewed anticipation of reward.
After, a delicious herbal tea awaits in Aroma Ki's relaxation room. Wiith peaceful mind and restored body, back 'in' the real world, you will be lighter of step, smiling and delirously happy.
