Aroma ki spray tans are without a doubt are the best on the Northern Beaches. Everything from the warm friendly staff to the luxurious atmosphere, client parking, the relaxation room with organic herbal tea and fruit water... I really enjoyed everything and it was just a spray tan.
When I walked into the spa I felt immediately relaxed, it is such a beautiful space. The staff put me at ease straight away with their warm welcome and friendly attitude. This is an amazing day spa, much larger than I expected - it seems to have about 10 rooms and 2 floors! Usually when I have had a tan, it is done by hand, which takes around 20 minutes and is a little embarrassing I have to say!! I was expecting to have to bare all for the therapist who took me through. But as I found out, this was not necessary! At Aroma ki, the whole process is done in the Versaspa, an automated booth which even talks to you, telling you when to change position so you don’t end up like in that hilarious Seinfeld episode with an uneven tan. AND it only takes a few minutes. My tan was really natural looking and even, no human error! I had a choice of tan depth and the friendly staff there talked me through what would be the ideal shade for me-light, medium or dark or for those who want to really stand out even darker colours can be achieved! I was told that they have some dancers who perform and they like to have a really dark tan to stand out on the stage. So the colour can be tailored to suit you which is great to know.
Once in the booth I pushed the button as instructed to start the “prep” spray, this was explained to me as a solution designed to prepare the skin to make sure your tan is beautifully even and to give it a better overall finish, which, as I found out, it certainly does. Amazingly it really does just take a few minutes to complete the whole process and you have the most natural looking golden tan, as if you have just returned from some tropical holiday! I loved it. There is even an infra red heater to keep you warm during it all for that extra bit of luxury that I have come to expect from Aroma ki. I even bought the tan extender which has a beautiful shimmer to it and helps the tan last longer. All in all it stayed on for over a week.
Price - $45 for the prep and tan there are courses you can buy which make it even more reasonable.

Honey Spray tans, what can I say? What great service! I rocked up to my appointment at Honey for my spray tan a little tentative – given that it was my first time – and was greeted with a warm welcome and an easy smile. Immediately, I felt at ease. I’d heard mixed reports on the spray tanning experience, but I’d only ever heard good things about Honey so I thought it would be a good way to try it, and I wasn't disappointed.
After my warm welcome I was ushered into the instantly calming foyer and took some time out while the soothing sounds of Cafe Del Mar played in the background. A short time later I was greeted by the beautician and escorted into the tanning area. The beautician answered all my questions and explained the drill. I was reluctant to bare everything, cellulite and all, but she put my mind at ease and I proceeded to strip off.
Once in the booth the beautician instructed my movements with precision and it was really quite a relaxing experience over all. After a few final touches I was done. Back in my usual garb without a hurry on out the door I was the new bronzed up goddess that I always wanted to be. Finalising the bill was a quick and efficient process and I left ready to reveal the new me to the world. But what about the tan a few weeks down the track you’re asking? After two weeks the tan is still holding out with no signs of streaking, fading or alien-like patching and I'm still enjoying my new glow!

As a seasoned lover of the ol’ spray tan when I saw “$25 Spray Tan” emblazoned across the window of Chase The Sun I practically pulled off the road so I could run in and make an appointment. Of course I actually waited until I was safely at my destination and made a phone call and appointment, at which point I made the welcome discovery that Chase The Sun are open until 9pm every week night – great for people like me who work during the day and are only available in the evenings!
So I mooch up for my tan and Chase The Sun is really warm coloured and welcoming, specially against the winter cold! All of the staff look like they’ve just come back from a tropical island, and I think “I want to look like that”!
I am escorted to the spray tan booth and talked through the hair-net, barrier cream talk. They explain everything very thoroughly. The tanning process itself takes less that a couple of minutes and I am out of there, I’m worried initially that I don’t look very dark. But the guys at Chase The Sun recommended that I put an old sheet on my bed, so I guess something much be working!
I wake up the next day really brown, but not orange though. I really like the colour! My only gripe is the wear off of the colour. After a day or so the marks on my hands and my feet give the game away and what everyone had thought was natural lost its impact.
