One quiet Tuesday night, Henry Afrikas Manly Beach was once again host to the coolest fashion bash on the Northern Beaches. Well actually, you would call it less of a "bash" and more of a "decadent soiree" - it was the catwalk premiere of Cara Mia Couture Manly's designer summer collection.
A packed house at Henry Afrikas sipped on delicious rum cocktails and chardonnay, and enjoyed a sensational two courses.
But we weren't here this night for the food (though it was phenomenal), tonight belonged to Ciana Aquilante, her tribe of sensational models and, of course, her sensational summer fashion.
Ciana Aquilante's models were beautiful, glamorous girls workin' it. Glowing like beacons of light on a dark night in their Honey Body Salon spray tans these girls made all of our nights. Some of them may actually work as models, some might not, but one thing sang true for all the models - they were enthusiastic. Sometimes I think watching the catwalk pros - Gisele, Miranda Kerr, Tyra - they're good and it's polished work, but sometimes it just looks a little stale and like work. These girls were relishing their every minute on the catwalk and in Cara Mia's clothes - kudos to you all ladies!
Anyway, onto the clothes. Well if Cara Mia has anything to say about it we are in for a seriously colourful and glam summer season. Cara Mia boasts a strut-worthy blend of high-fashion European designers and trendy American brands such as Diane Von Furstenberg - who featured heavily in the show, M Missoni, Kenzo and the parade's stand out designer Just Cavalli.
Cara Mia reinstated itself as a store you don't go to if you are looking for a cheap, fleeting-trend purchase. The trends, and the garments you will find in store are, yes, on trend, but they're classic and the quality of the cuts, shapes, decadent fabrics and designs will far outlast any old $50 purchase you could make.
