Manly Hypnotist "The Power to Influence” Gordon Young

Nearly all of you will have heard of “lateral thinking”. Few of you may be aware that both the phrase and the concept were invented by Edward De Bono, a figure who is recognized by Time Magazine as one of the 20th century’s most 100 influential people and even has a planet named after him. The centre of De Bono’s work is the idea that while their are thousands of people writing software for computers, their are very few creating it for the human brain.

We have all been given the most profound piece of technology we know to exist in the universe. It is, in many respects, far more powerful than billion dollar NASA projects. And it’s sitting right between our ears! Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an complete operating manual delivered in a Gucci box.

This is a message that the British celebrity hypnotist Paul McKenna has taken to millions of people in a quest to help them create positive change and gain control of their lives. McKenna has trained royalty, Olympic athletes and thousands of business people, via, among other themes, his TV shows and tapes on “The Power to Influence”.

Manly Hypnosis expert Gordon Young, is the Chair of the Australian Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming, Vice President of the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists and Sub Editor of the Australian Journal of Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis. He was also a long time national promotional marketing agency owner, a high-school English and History teacher. He is now both a private coach to various Australian CEO’s and a Manly local who serves in counselling all who are referred to him.

Gordon’s background as a Master Trainer of NLP (Neuro (of the brain) Lingustic (of language) Programming (of habit)), often leads him to help people with debilitating problems – the work of the classical psychologist or psychiatrist. But he doesn’t just direct all his energies in to his clinical practice. He is passionate about helping people who are doing just OK -- and even quite well by all accounts -- deliver powerful results and contributions.

Gordon always liked the Japanese Samurai TV show 'Shintaro' as a child. So on visiting Japan he decided to buy a high art Japanese antiquity – his goal was to secure a full Edo-era (200+ years old) suit of Japanese Samurai armour. True antiquities dealers are rare and licenses to export such cultural treasure even rarer. Gordon sought an audience with the leading military antiquities expert in Japan, a 76 year old former full contact Kendo shu Master. This man had disdain for Westerners who he claimed were “without honour”.

Gordon somehow secured an audience with this esteemed figure (with no Japanese) and managed to secure his purchase. The only two other Western customers the Master had dealt with had been Steven Segal and Nicholas Cage.
