Introducing the Manly Environment Centre
The
Manly Environment Centre (MEC) shopfront started in 1991 as a unique combination of Community, Council and local corporate sponsors.
It is the first
national suburban environment centre and is well established as a pro-active organisation dedicated to the health of our Northern Beaches environment.
As an action and education based centre, the shopfront houses the
largest collection of environmental education materials accessible to the community in Australia. Thousands of free reference materials are available and the MEC organises educational programs, events and projects to protect the environment.
The
Manly Environment Centre offers accredited internships and work experience opportunities for a range of students in all fields of the environment. Events include '
The Art of Creating Habitat' workshop series in September at
The Art Sanctuary, and
Ocean Care Day at the Manly Beach and promenade.
If you are interested in volunteering or want to sign up to the What’s on mailing list to hear more about environmental activities, send an e-mail to
