Term and Condition of Entry and Voting


'Light & Water' Photo Competition Eligibility
- The competition is open to anyone, anywhere of any age.
- Employees of Our Manly, Manly Council and Luminere Imaging and the Sponsors of the Photography Competition are ineligible to enter.
- You must be able to receive a prize in person in Manly Sydney Australia in late September 2009 to be eligible to win or recieve a runner up prize.
Theme: 'Light & Water' -- Seeking A Signature 'Manly' Image
- We are looking for images on the theme of 'Light & Water' with specific reference to 'Manly' the place (Sydney, NSW, Australia). We are seeking a 'Signature' Manly image.
- While images must evoke the theme of Manly, the place, they can be taken anywhere. Suggested images need deploy the ingredients of both 'Light' and 'Water' and evoke 'Manly' (the place). Interpretation beyond this is up to the photographer. We encourage experimental, abstract, symbolic and creative works. We also encourage works that demonstrate technical finesse, and both creative and 'strong' interpretation of theme.
'Light & Water' Photography Competition Submission Criteria
- Images may be made with any type of camera, digitally or on film. Preferred format is 35mm format or 2 x 3 digital ratio.
- Work may be colour or black & white in portrait or landscape format.
- Each artist may submit one or two works.
- Your photos should be of a 2 x 3 ratio, 300 dpi RGB JPG or JPEG file. Photos outside these specifications will be accepted, but may be cropped and adjusted to comply with these specifications.
- Select Finalists works may be enlarged and reproduced to the scale of approximately 20" X 30". Therefore, the submitted work must be sufficiently high quality (eg sharp, clear, good contrast, well-exposed images) for the reproduction and printing process.
- As required, Sponsors will fund the reproduction of images, the installation, and exhibition system.
- All images submitted are subject to the approval of the organisers before they will be displayed on the Our Manly website. Our Manly reserves the right to exclude and remove any entry from the competition at any time.
Terms & Conditions of Entry - 'Light & Water' Our Manly Photographic Competition Manly Arts Festival 2009
You agree that the following terms and conditions apply to your participation in the ‘Light & Water' Photography Competition and Exhibition to be held between 12th July 2009 and 20th September 2009.
- Entry is Free
- Each artist may submit one or two works.
- Entry and voting closes at 5pm on Sunday 20th September 2009.
- All submitted images are subject to approval before they will be displayed on the Our Manly website. Our Manly reserves the right to exclude and remove any entry from the competition at any time.
- The organisers and judge’s decisions in all respects will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Copyright
- Copyright of any work submitted as an entry remains with the author or copyright owner. The competitor is solely responsible for ensuring that they are the copyright owner of the image and that submitting the image into the Light & Water Competition does not infringe on any third parties intellectual property rights or the rights of privacy or publicity of any third party. This includes text, data, photographs, graphics, photograph names or any other materials or intellectual property rights.
- By submitting the work, the copyright owner gives Our Manly permission to reproduce, communicate and to display the work to the public. Our Manly may also publish the work in any publication, internet website or other communications/ media format for the purpose of such reproduction, communication, recourse, publicity or sponsorship purposes.
- Our Manly reserves the right to edit or crop images for the purposes of promotion and publicity on the internet, television, city events and other media material formats.
- By submitting the work, the copyright owner gives Our Manly permission to produce 1 (one) large scale reproduction of the work for sale at auction with all (full) proceeds going to a Charity. Only finalist works will ever be reproduced and sold for this purpose.
Online Voting, Judges, Selection Process and Judging Criteria
Online Voting at Our Manly:
- Public voting at www.ourmanly.com.au will form the first round of judging.
- Public voting takes place only online at Our Manly.
- Voters need register on Our Manly with a unique email address in order to vote.
- By Registering to Vote Voters agree to receive further opt-out-at-anytime email communications from Our Manly.
- Anyone, anywhere who is a registered Our Manly site user can vote until the closing date of 5pm Sunday Sept 20, 2009.
Up to 20 finalists works will be selected and viewed by a Judging Panel:
- Our Manly and Luminere Imaging's decisions as to the 20 finalist images are final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
- Subject to the judges decision the top 3-20 images will be printed, framed and sold as part of a Charity Auction to raise money for a Charity.
- While every care will be taken to mainain the integrity of the original Artwork, some variations (cropping/ colour) may result from adapting the original Artwork to the large-scale print size or through the printing process.
- The framed prints will remain the property of Our Manly until sold by Auction. All (all) monies taken from the auction process will be donated to the Charity. Our Manly retains the right to re-exhibit any unsold prints at any location. Entrants can neither claim ownership or compensation from these framed prints.
The winning and runner-up works and those chosen for possible reproduction, exhibition and possible auction will be selected in accordance with the following criteria:
- The work addresses Competition Themes and is in accordance with Submission Criteria.
- The work complies with all theme, submission, terms and conditions and copyright requirements as explained above.
- Demonstrated skill in the art form.
- Adaptability of the work to a larger print format (20" x 30" format)
- The artist, by entering, has agreed with the above Terms and Conditions.
