Dee Why Surfing Fraternity in Top Form
Dee Why Surfing Fraternity has placed third in the Jim Beam Australian Surf Tag series held recently at North Narrabeen Beach. Manly Surf Guide’s Ryan Hayfield chats with Dee Why’s young hot shot Danny Sheather about the result…

Ryan: So you guys placed third hey? Well done mate.
Danny: Thanks. Yeah we’re all stoked.
Ryan: Is this the best result that Dee Why has ever had in a surf tag or team’s event.
Danny: Yeah I think so. We got a 5th a few years ago, but this is the best result that I can remember.
Ryan: What made the difference this time? Have you all been training hard?
Danny: Yeah we’ve been training three days a week and I think it’s the team spirit that makes all the difference. When you are on a wave and you can hear 50 Dee Why boys cheering you on and banging pots and pans it definitely gets you pumped.

Ryan: Did you surf against Parko? [JoelParkinson]
Danny: Yeah I did, it was a pretty awesome experience. Luckily enough he had a bit of a shocker, so the rest of the teams were stoked.
Ryan: So what’s next for the D.Y.S.F?
Danny: We have the “Battle of the Poles” coming up soon. It’s another team’s event held annually between D.Y.S.F. and Longreef Boardriders.
Ryan: That sounds like a good showdown mate. Well down for the 3rd place and good luck with the “Battle of the Pole”.
Danny: Thanks mate, good talking to you.
