Wild About Manly Terms and Conditions of Entry Open Section
Eligibility
- The competition is open to anyone living in the Sydney area of Australia. Employees of The Manly Environment Centre, The Manly Art Gallery & Museum and the Sponsors of the Photography Competition are ineligible to enter.

Theme
- We are looking for images that celebrate Manly’s wonderful animals, plants and landscapes.
- All images must be photographed within the Municipality of Manly. Suggested images are Manly wildscapes – landscapes and seascapes (including underwater). Australian native animals, birds and fish, Australian native plants and flowers found in the Manly area.
- Images of human activities and man made landscapes will not be accepted.
- All images submitted are subject to the approval of the organisers before they will be displayed on the Our Manly website. Our Manly reserves the right to exclude and remove any entry from the competition at any time.
Submission Criteria
- Images may be made with any type of camera, digitally or on film. Preferred format is 35mm format or 2 x 3 digital ratio.
- Work may be colour or black & white in portrait or landscape format.
- Each artist may submit one or two works.
- Your photos should be of a 2 x 3 ratio, 300 dpi RGB JPG or JPEG file. Photos outside these specifications will be accepted, but may be cropped and adjusted to comply with these specifications.
- Select Finalists works will be enlarged and reproduced to the scale of approximately 20" X 30". Therefore, the submitted work must be sufficiently high quality (eg sharp, clear, good contrast, well-exposed images) for the reproduction and printing process.
- Sponsors will fund the reproduction of images, the installation, and exhibition system.
Terms & Conditions
You agree that the following terms and conditions apply to your participation in the ‘Wild About Manly’ Nature Photography Competition and Exhibition to be held between 23rd July 2007 and 27th September 2008.
- Entry is Free
- Each artist may submit one or two works.
- Entry closes at 5pm on Sunday 21st September 2008.
- All submitted images are subject to approval before they will be displayed on the Our Manly website. Our Manly reserves the right to exclude and remove any entry from the competition at any time.
- The top twenty images as voted for by the Public voting online will be considered by the judging panel and a first place and second place winner in each category chosen.
- Subject to the judges decision the top 3-5 images will be printed, framed and sold as part of a charity auction to raise money for The North Head Sanctuary Foundation.
- While every care will be taken to mainain the integrity of the original Artwork, some variations (cropping/ colour) may result from adapting the original Artwork to the large-scale print size or through the printing process.
- The framed prints will remain the property of Our Manly until sold by Auction. All monies taken from the auction process will be donated to the Charity. Our Manly retains the right to re-exhibit any unsold prints at any location. Entrants can neither claim ownership or compensation from these framed prints.
- The organisers and judge’s decisions in all respects will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Copyright
- Copyright of any work submitted as an entry remains with the author or copyright owner. The competitor is solely responsible for ensuring that they are the copyright owner of the image and that submitting the image into the Wild About Manly Competition does not infringe on any third parties intellectual property rights or the rights of privacy or publicity of any third party. This includes text, data, photographs, graphics or any other materials.
- By submitting the work, the copyright owner gives Our Manly permission to reproduce, communicate and to display the work to the public. Our Manly may also publish the work in any publication for the purpose of such reproduction, communication, recourse, publicity or sponsorship purposes.
- Our Manly reserves the right to edit or crop images for the purposes of promotion and publicity on the internet, television, city events and other media material formats.
The Judges, Selection Process and Judging Criteria
The final 20 works will be viewed by an elite Selection and Judging Panel:
The winning works and those chosen for reproduction, exhibition and auction will be selected in accordance with the following criteria:
- The work addresses Competition Themes and is in accordance with Submission Criteria.
- The work complies with all theme, submission, terms and conditions and copyright requirements as explained above.
- Demonstrated skill in the art form.
- Adaptability of the work to the larger print format (20" x 30" format)
- The artist, by entering, has agreed with the above Terms and Conditions.
