Spacejunk landed in Manly in 2002, and is now a Manly culture icon in the world of edgy, cool fashion and art. Spacejunk have worked collaboratively with Sydney label Ksubi (AKA
Tsubi) and the Manly Art Gallery & Museum. New & Emerging local artists have showcased their artworks on the wall. Established Australian art-based fashion brands hang on the racks.

ETHOS

It is this creative fusion that was the inspiration for many stores to follow on, that have created Spacejunk – the brand, the creative studio, the art gallery, the boutique, the alterations service…and now – The design Workroom – producing the fashion label. Aptly named, ‘Spacejunk’.

All this under one roof? Yes, well there is space at Spacejunk. With the credo, ‘Deconstructing Chaos’, you will be met in this unique store/workroom setting, with great customer sales & alterations service and elegant creative surroundings within which you can purchase original artworks and beautiful clothing.

Space Junk Manly Design Workroom

With the introduction of the design workroom Spacejunk Manly are now offering a specialised alteration service. “We can do anything from re-fitting vintage pieces for people to using specialised denim cotton on all of our denim alterations and repairs to altering fully tailored & lined garments” the staff says.

Space Junk Holiday fashion classes

Spacejunk have also recently pioneered their first holiday fashion classes for kids aged between 6 and 10 years old, during the recent July school holidays. Its huge success has provided them with continuing the idea again in the October holidays. “We are going to increase the classes and have a separate more comprehensive two-day course for teenagers aged between 12 and 16 years old"

Fundraising

Spacejunk are strong members within the community. An exhibition to raise funds for Bear Cottage in 2004; An exhibition of children’s artworks from ‘The Royal Far West School Art Class’ to raise local awareness & money for the school; Participants in the first Manly Wharf Bar fashion Parade for the Melbourne Cup in 2004; Sponsors of the Melbourne Cup fashion parade at In Situ 2005; Gina designed staff uniforms for the newly opened Shore Club in Manly in 2006/2007. More to come from Spacejunk, who have not stopped providing Manly with creativity since the day they arrived.
