Col Crawford Pits BMW 6 Series "Grace" Against Nissan GT-R "Godzilla"
Being in the business world can often afford you a few luxuries, and more regularly than not top of the list is a luxury vehicle … or two. This month we bring you two ends of the spectrum – the upcoming new BMW 6 Series and the new Nissan GT-R Series III.
The third generation BMW 6 Series is a perfect fusion of sporty yet elegant, giving you pure dynamic driving nirvana. Add in exemplary efficiency and you have the new benchmark in ultimate luxury that is also dynamic driving fun. And you get a choice.
At the top end the BMW 6 Series Coupe 650i roars with a V8 engine with BMW TwinPower technology 4.8 litre engine which give you 300kw/ 407hp.
The 640i has a six cylinder in-line engine, BMW TwinPower Turbo technology which brings you 235kw/ 320 hp or power. This is all while sipping fuel – the 640i only uses a measly 7.7L/100km.
It also has a unique choice of innovations including Adaptive LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen High End Surround System, Chassis control system and BMW Connected Drive driver assistance systems that include BMW Park Assistant, Lane Departure & Lane Change Warning and BMW night vision with pedestrian recognition. Plus, very importantly, it can fit up to three golf bags into its trunk.
For those of you who watch Top Gear, you are probably familiar with the excitement that talking about Godzilla brings the cast. If you haven’t seen any, here’s one to start (yes, its long as Clarkson does go on, just for a change).
Relaunched about 2 years ago there is a lot to be excited about, it simply is an awesome car. Why? Well you are doing pretty well when you have a car that not only matches but outstrips uber-performance cars such as Lamborghini and Ferrari for a fraction of the price.

Improving on perfection is difficult but Nissan have improved the GT-R with minor upgrades every year since its launch. So for the latest incarnation let’s start with performance; 390kW of Power @ 6,400rpm (+33kW, equivalent to 522HP), 608Nm of Torque (+24Nm) produced between 3,200 – 6,000rpm
This all translates to it being able to do 0-100km in 3 seconds. Something our customers tried out on a couple of recent track days.
The Series III Nissan GT-R has improved engine efficiency, more responsive handling, a refreshed exterior with improved aerodynamics, Front and rear LED lamps and enhanced interior and new wheels & tyres.

Grace or Godzilla - for some of you it might be a case of deciding on which one, or for others you will get both. But whichever I know that you will have be having lots of fun driving them – which is what it’s all about.
